The Sweetie Pie mold is a cute baby girl but can be used for a portrait doll, fairy, merbaby or whatever your imagination will create. She is a 2 part press mold used with polymer clay only. She is flat when you press her and you must pose her arms and legs before firing her hard in a home oven at 275 degrees. Porcelain or other liquids can not be cast in this type of plaster mold. It is made of Hydrastone to last for years. No artist mold is perfect, they are hand made so please do not expect them to be flawless like commercial mass produced porcelain or ceramic molds.
The instructions on how to make her armature and a pattern for her are on my website to print out for free whenever you need one. No armature or instructions are sent with this mold.
Polymer clay is different with every brand and batch that is made.
Sometimes the figure refuses to release from the press mold all in one piece.
My advice is:
Dip the entire mold into cold water for one minute to wet it completely. Remove from the water.
Press your doll into the wet mold. Leave the doll inside the unopened mold and put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Remove the mold from the freezer, carefully open the mold and remove your doll but DO NOT try to change her pose for an hour. Let her thaw out so she does not crack when you bend her.
She will sweat off the water and dry out. Now you can play with her!
