Standing tall and straight forward, the simplicity of this rarely seen style of vintage glazed ironstone sculpture, makes it unique. A Chinese man wearing traditional attire and holding a pot, stands tall and looking straight ahead. With the pot balanced predominately on the center right, his left arm and hand cross over so that the two hands join to hold the pot. Traditional colors of rich jade green and dark golden mustard yellow make up the majority of the figurine. The base is wider in the front, and wearing black shoes, his feet are spread apart and each foot sits near the edge of each side of the angled base to give it a perfect balance. His black tied sash puddles down and sits between his feet, for a nice touch. Embossed underneath Hong Kong O.A.I.  A wonderful sculpture that would give a unique finished look to that tall shelf, lonely end on a large fireplace mantel, or on the floor in a special spot.
Great vintage condition. Used for display and then stored for many years. Normal use marks at the very bottom of the base (photo 10). A tiny spec on the right side on the green (photo 8) and a spot (likely just unfinished) underneath the left side of the bow of his black sash (photo 9). Nothing that necessarily stands out and no other known chips or cracks. See all photos.
