VTG Hand-Carved Cinnabar Smiling Laughing Buddha Budai Hotei Miniature

Description

This is vintage finely hand-carved sitting smiling/laughing Buddha/Budai/Hotei*  miniature. Buddha is holding inexhaustible Treats Money Bag over his shoulder and a wealth ball in his hands - the most auspicious symbols of wealth and prosperity.
The sitting posture of Buddha is considered to be that of love and it symbolizes balance of thoughts and tranquillity.
There is some sort of symbol/signature(?) on the Money Bag (see photo)

Budai (Chinese), pronounced Hotei in Japanese, also known as the Laughing Buddha, was a Buddhist monk in China. Budai has become a god of happiness and plenty in some forms of Taoism and Buddhism. In Japan, Hotei is one of the Seven LuckyGods.
